The Prelude to the Final Judgment

Dec 9, 2020    Mitch Horton

As we continue our study of Revelation, we now enter Chapter 15, which serves as a prelude to the final judgments of God upon the earth. This chapter marks a transition from the trumpet judgments to the bowl judgments—the final and most intense outpouring of God's wrath before Jesus establishes His millennial reign.

This follows everything we have covered up to this point: the rise of the antiChrist, the persecution of believers, the trumpet judgments, and the rapture of the church before the full outpouring of God's wrath. Now, as we approach the culmination of God's righteous judgment, John sees another great sign in heaven—seven angels preparing to unleash the seven last plagues.

These final judgments will complete the cleansing of the earth, removing every trace of rebellion and preparing for the return of Jesus as King. Before these judgments begin, we see a powerful scene of worship in heaven, where those who have overcome the beast sing the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb, praising God's justice and holiness.

Revelation 15 sets the stage for the final judgments, reminding us of God's sovereign plan and the certainty of His victory over evil. This chapter is both a warning and a source of hope—warning of the coming wrath upon those who reject God and hope for those who remain faithful to Him.
