Four Covenants
In this continuation of our introduction to the Book of Revelation, we explore the essential foundation for understanding end-time prophecy—God’s covenants. The sermon begins with a review of Jesus' promise of His return (Acts 1:8-11) and God's ultimate plan to restore all that was lost through sin (Ephesians 1:9-10).
To grasp the full significance of Revelation, we must recognize the four eternal covenants God established with His people:
The Abrahamic Covenant – God's promise to Abraham of land and descendants, forming the foundation of Israel's identity (Genesis 12:1-3, 17:1-7).
The Palestinian Covenant – A reaffirmation of the land promise to Israel, ensuring their eventual restoration (Deuteronomy 30:1-3, Ezekiel 11:16-21).
The Davidic Covenant – God's guarantee that a descendant of David will reign forever, ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ (2 Samuel 7:12-16, Isaiah 9:6-7).
The New Covenant – God's promise of spiritual renewal and salvation through Christ, bringing redemption to both Jews and Gentiles (Jeremiah 31:31-34, Ezekiel 36:26-28).
These covenants shape the events of Revelation, revealing God's faithfulness in fulfilling His promises and His plan to restore His creation. Understanding them provides a clearer perspective on prophecy, judgment, and the hope of Christ’s return.
